When curd chilli meets left over rice

Curd Chilli Rice / ಮಜ್ಜಿಗೆ ಮೆಣಸಿನಕಾಯಿ ಅನ್ನ

The name is quite confusing isn't it ??? If you think its a curd rice...  well its not !!

Curd chillies are prepared from green chilli which are soaked in buttermilk along with salt & turmeric and dried in the sun until chillies absorbs all the buttermilk and dried completely. This is a long procedure so you can easily buy these curd chillies which is readily available in the market and will cost around 30 to 35 Rs for 100 gms.

Though we are fond of our so called traditional lemon rice or puliogere, you may not want to miss this recipe to add on to your list because this is one of the simplest recipe and taste even more delicious when prepared with left over rice. This simple yet sober recipe can be included in the list of your breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Curd Chilli is also used as a side dish for sambar rice and curd rice by frying them in pan with oil (not a deep fry).As these green chillies are soaked in buttermilk, it will be less spicy than usual and give us a flavored taste with rice.

My mother is fond of curd chillies and i always see her relishing these with rice & sambar or curd rice by adding those extra oil (fried left over oil) to the chillies on her plate.I am sure you would love too, just add fried curd chillies on the menu when you do not have anything else as a side dish.

Below are the details of this recipe
