Well coming to the recipe ...Today I am going to share a healthy yummy breakfast recipe with you all. Yet again if you follow me , you know most of my recipes are easiest & also are with very minimal ingredients. This is one of them & called Bansi rava /sooji rotti. So we just need rava ,coconut , salt ,chilli powder & water that's it .... Yes I am serious, that's all we need! Looks simple isn't it ...yes it is simple but you need patience when you are cooking them on tava. This rotti takes about 10 to 15 mins to cook them on low to medium flame. But worth the wait as the hot rotti with ghee & sugar ... taste absolutely delicious.

This is my dad's favorite & one of the konkani breakfast .Usually we do it on Sunday morning bcoz it does take time to cook & Sunday is the best day to do it as u have some time to relax & make your favorite rotti :)

This tastes best when served with ghee & sugar but if in case you dont like sweet , then you can add pickle or your favorite chutney as a side dish.

Lets go through the recipe details

Ingredients

Bansi Rava - 2 cup

Grated Coconut - 1 Cup

Chilli powder - 2 tbsp

Water - 1.5 cup

Salt as required

Method :

  • Take a bowl and add rava. Sieve rava to remove lumps if any.
  • And then add coconut ,salt ,chilli powder & water and mix well.
  • Keep the batter soaked in water for half an hour .
  • After half an hour ,mix the batter well & add little water if necessary to form a rotti dough
  • Take a parchment or butter paper, drizzle oil & spread rotti batter to a round shape
  • On a hot tava , drizzle oil & slowly spread the rotti from the butter paper.
  • Drizzle oil on all sides & close the lid.
  • Cook the rotti well on both sides until it turns golden brown.
  • Bansi Rava Rotti is ready to be served.
NOTE :

  1. Adding any other additional masala is your choice
  2. You can also use Onion for this recipe
  3. Cooking it low or medium flame helps you in making soft & tasty rotti
  4. More the coconut, the more it turns soft & tasty. So do not hesitate to add coconut in this recipe.
  5. Coconut is the highlight in this recipe so do not skip this step.
  6. Serve them hot with ghee & sugar or chutney or pickle of your choice
  7. Serve them while it is hot .Cold rotti turns harder & will be difficult to chew

Happy Cooking !
