Tomato is always savior for us and also most used at home. Our go to dishes are Tomato rasam,Tomato bath,Tomato gojju, Tomato raitha,Tomato Chutney,Tomato dal,Tomato sambar,Tomato curry,Tomato thokku, and Tomato dosa .

This recipe is definitely gonna make your life simpler and taste the exact tangy ,sour and sweetness that you expect to have in gojju.I have used Farm tomatoes but you can also Heirloom (naati) tomatoes to make this recipe. We usually have this with hot rice and ghee but this also tastes best with rotti,Idli, dosa and chapathi.

Here you go with the details -

  • Oil - 1 tbsp
  • Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Curry leaves - 6 to 7
  • Hing - a pinch
  • Tomato - 4 to 5 (medium size)
  • Chilli powder - 1 tsp
  • Jaggery - 1/2 inch
  • Water - 1/2 cup
  • Salt as required
  • Coriander leaves for garnish

-->Take a pan , add oil , mustard seeds ,hing ,turmeric powder and curry leaves.
-->And then add chopped tomatoes and saute for two mins
-->Further add water and close the lid and boil for 5 mins
-->Later add salt, chilli powder and Jaggery and mix well
-->Add chopped coriander leaves and turn off the flame
-->Tomato gojju is ready to be served with hot rice

NOTE :

  1. Tomato itself gives tangy tasty but if required, use 1/2 tbsp tamarind juice
  2. If you are garlic lover , then add garlic after adding mustard seeds and fry for about 1 minute
  3. You can also add ginger, onion or rasam powder as per your taste
